Dr. Usha Vishwanath
Dr. Usha Vishwanath is a highly esteemed Obstetrician and Gynecologist with 38 years of dedicated experience in the field. Currently serving as the Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital, she is widely recognized for her exceptional skill in managing complex OBG conditions. Dr. Vishwanath completed her MBBS at Stanley Medical College and her MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. Over her illustrious career, she has become an expert in high-risk pregnancies, OBG surgeries, adolescent gynecology, and preventive women’s health. Her contributions to the field are further highlighted by her role in creating the MBBS curriculum as a Medical Council expert and her work as a NABH principal assessor.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Vishwanath is a passionate educator, authoring the well-regarded Textbook of Obstetrics and mentoring countless students throughout her 29-year tenure at Sri Ramachandra Medical College, where she also served as the Head of the Department. She has been instrumental in promoting patient safety and quality in healthcare, leading initiatives like the development of the mobile app Suraksh, which monitors labor to reduce maternal mortality rates.
Her expertise is further recognized through her involvement in various professional organizations, including FOGSI and OGSSI, and her commitment to community outreach programs focusing on women’s health and education.
